U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson sells his London home

The former North London home of U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has found a buyer less than six months after going on the market.

The Islington townhouse, listed for £3.75 million (US$4.8 million), sold in September, according to listing records, but the buyer’s identity and final sale price have not yet been released to the public.

Records show that Johnson bought the home with his then-wife, Marina, for £2.3 million in 2009. Last year, the couple announced their separation.

A day before his predecessor Theresa May stepped down, Mr. Johnson announced he would run for the top government job.

This five-story house dates back to 1841 and is set behind cast-iron railings at the end of a terrace row. According to the listing with Chestertons, the home spans 3,000 square feet and combines the elegance of a Georgian house with the convenience of modern finishes.

The listing said the house has four bedrooms, sash windows, a private terrace, views of the Regent’s Canal, two studies, and a garden.

Prime Minister Johnson has lived at 10 Downing Street since July.

In Westminster, near Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Westminster, where parliament meets, is the official residence of the prime minister, known simply as Number 10.

In May, Mr. Johnson announced his intention to run for the top government job when his predecessor Theresa May resigned.

In 1841, the five-story house was built behind cast-iron railings at the end of a terrace row. According to the listing with estate agency Chestertons, it measures 3,000 square feet and combines the “elegance of a Georgian house with the convenience of modern finishes.”

Among its features are four bedrooms, sash windows, a private terrace, views of the nearby Regent’s Canal, two studies, and a garden.

Prime Minister Johnson has lived at 10 Downing Street since July.

Number 10 is the official residence of the prime minister in Westminster, close to both Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Westminster, where parliament meets.

Mr. Johnson, 55, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment, served as mayor of London from 2008 to 2016 and as secretary of state for foreign affairs from 2016 to 2018. The outcome of a general election in December will determine whether he remains in charge.
