Revolt in Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh announced parallel list of candidate

In a new twist to the Samajwadi Party family fued, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has released his own list of 235 candidates for the coming UP assembly election on Thursday.

The move came a day after the Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav announced the official list of 325 candidates on wednesday, denying tickets to several Akhilesh loyalists including Ram Govind Chaudhary, Pawan Pandey and Arvind Singh Gope and also ruled out projecting Akhilesh Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate of the party.

The upset Akhilesh Yadav struck back sacking two Shivpal loyalists Surabhi Shukla, vice-chairperson of UP Awas Vikas Parishad & her husband Sandeep Shukla from the post of advisor of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam in a late night tit-for-tat action.

According to media sources the candidates declared by Akhilesh Yadav is deciding to contest on different symbols as independent candidates.

The bitterness in the Samajwadi Party family fued suddenly increased soon after the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh publicly snubbed his son in the announcement of candidates list for the UP assembly election.

The Samajwadi Party ongoing family feud have gone down in the political history of the Uttar Pradesh as it showing the ugly side of the ruling family.

The dynasties are usually discouraged in democratic set ups as it stifles internal democracy. But in the Uttar Pradesh, it is flagrant within the ruling family.

Earlier too the chief minister are often removed from their posts but has not publicly snubbed by the party chief.
There were an instance when the Congress party high command removed a chief minister while he were abroad and then flew back to hand over power.

Even the BJP had changed its chief ministers thrice in the UP between 1998 and 2002 - Kalyan Singh, Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh, in fact Kalyan Singh was removed from their post in the night of Diwali.

Though, in all the changes, the party chief was not even distantly related to the chief minister.

In the Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav is the father of the CM Akhilesh Yadav, the Mulayam Singh himself had handed over the post despite of stiff resistance from his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav, who had wanted Akhilesh to take over the CM and make his son his deputy. In clear words, adopting the Punjab formula.

It seems, Shivpal did not know then that the Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal had removed all who are dare challenge his son Sukhbir, whom had had decided to hand over the baton to.

The Mulayam Singh can neither turn the clock back even if he wished nor him, then why is he taking suicidal steps?

He heartly knows that to win this crucial assembly election he and his son will have to be together. Others, whether any outsiders or family members, don't have the charisma to win the assembly election.

The Mulayam Singh also understands that the family has to show a united picture even though they are fighting like characters in Hindi serials inside their home. He also know that the public is watching all their activities, 'Yeh public hai, sab jaanti hai'.

In the five year tenure of Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav scolded his son, but the CM Akhilesh always covered up his embarrassment with that I am not getting scolded by his father. The opposition parties often said that Akhilesh is a weak CM after an impression grown that he and some of his seniors were taking decision. Mr. Akhilesh Yadav started asserting himself in his third year of his term.

The Mulayam Singh Yadav has also showed his anger against Akhilesh for ignoring him or his friends. The anger grew apparently after the CM Akhilesh Yadav removed his uncle from the post minister. All of that action was reactionary, the Mulayam Singh Yadav should know that it is the blood that flowing in the Akhilesh. All these issues could have sorted amicably.

Some of the party sources has claimed that Mulayam Singh Yadav was very upset as the Akhilesh tried to build his own image, bigger than the party. Perhaps like any other father Mulayam Singh Yadav also should beproud of his son's growing popularity. Might be he feeling the same but he is showing the contrary.

In the last two months he has made all public appearances holding his brother's hand, sending the curt message about whom he is siding with while playing the referee in an intense family battle. The tickets were announced in the absense of Akhilesh too, usally, the state chief minister remains present during the announcement.

The family fued must not he display in the public at the time assembly elections, it can be an entertainment only. The BJP and BSP have a many reason to cheer because they have understand a popular chief minister will be removed from their way.

Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has always told his supporters that “I will never split the party founded by my father.” The Mulayam Sigh Yadav has pushed his own son into the corner.

At a time when assembly election is near in the state, the Samajwadi Party family fued growing day by day. What will be effect of this fued in the coming election, it will be clear only after the elections.

Lastly whatever path they decide to walk now, only a miracle can help Samajwadi Party to win the assembly election in the state.
