Bitter Gourd is a fruit and not vegetable, most of the people don’t know about this. It is a very good source for purifying the blood, eating or drinking its juice helps in reducing weight. Ingredients

  • 4 medium sized bitter gourd (karela)
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1 tsp spicy chili powder
  • Oil for frying
  • salt to taste

Method

Wash and cut the bitter gourd into 1/2 cm roundels. In a bowl put the bitter gourd add salt to it.

Salt is added to the bitter gourd for it will slightly loose its bitter taste, which is essential for this recipe.

Leave it for at least 1 to 2 hours. After 1 to 2 hours wash the bitter gourd in a running water, so the salt taste is washed away along with its bitter taste. Now peel and dice the onions, keep it aside. Heat a

Heat a saucepan (Kadai), pour some oil for frying, add washed karelas (drain the water from the karela and put it in oil).

Now, just deep fry bitter gourd till slightly golden brown color. Remove and drain the oil on a tissue paper.

Now deep fry the diced onions, till golden brown. Remove and drain the oil.

Take a bowl add the fried bitter gourd and onions. Add the spices one by one along with the salt. Mix well.

Check the salt and spice. If required more spice, you can add, be suiting your taste buds.

This dish is a dry dish, you can have it has a snack or with roti, dal, and rice.
