Calvin Klein Eternity for Men EDP (2023) – Full Review

I was browsing through my collection. When I noticed Calvin Klein Eternity for Men EDP in the back, I sprayed it on to remind myself of it, and it was good enough to get a full review.

This fragrance is all about its green aromatic and woody notes. The color of the juice is the best way to paint a picture of the smell. It is not a clone but has a simple and masculine vibe similar to Versace Pour Homme.

Before I give away too much, let’s jump into this review. I’ll explain how it smells and performs and if it’s the right choice for you.

What Does Calvin Klein Eternity for Men EDP Smell Like?

Upon the first spray, it is awakening. There’s a particular aroma that grabs attention. Right off the bat, I smell a heavy dose of cypress and sage. Both of which have a natural smell to them. The cypress is the most prominent, with a very herbaceous and spicy tinge. While a woody nuance lingers in the background.

The sage is present and amplifies the herbaceousness of the cypress. After a few minutes, the cypress’s spiciness tones down. Giving way to a slight fruity sweetness. I can’t smell a distinct apple note, but based on the note tree, this is where the sweetness most likely comes from.

After 10 – 15 minutes, a lot has stayed the same. I get primarily fresh and spicy accords coming from the cypress note. While woody nuances linger in the background.

As the scent dries down, the intensity of the cypress fades more and more. This gives way to a warmer greenness and the addition of musky nuances from ambergris. They are the least prominent but have a faintly sweet tone.

For the rest of the wear, it stays very similar. Green and slightly musky.

Performance

So, now you know the most important part of the fragrance. Let’s talk about the second. I’ve had Eternity for Men EDP for years but just recently started wearing it a lot again for this review.

Longevity

A solid 6 hours. It can linger longer in the right conditions. However, at that point, it’s sitting quite close to the skin.

Projection

In the first two hours, it pushes out multiple feet. After this period, it recedes closer to the skin.

Previously, I remember wearing this last spring, and I put 2 sprays on each wrist. It was all I could smell for the first few hours as the projection and intensity were a bit too strong.

Don’t worry; this will most likely not happen to you, as this was an event of my own doing.

Versatility

This can be used for 3 seasons and casual events. It struggles in the winter and doesn’t fit the vibe. Even though it smells good, it’s a bit generic, so it won’t be a great formal and/or date wear. I recommend reserving this for casual and office wear.

Uniqueness

The uniqueness is slightly below average. It doesn’t have the oomph factor that will make you stand out. As for uniqueness to you, I don’t smell this often on others. Yet, it probably still wouldn’t be your unique signature scent.

Compliments & Likability

It’s inoffensive, but if you’re looking for a fragrance that screams for attention. There are better choices. As eluded to earlier, it’s a great cologne if you want to smell good and blend in.

Cost for Value

The cost for value is average. It’s nothing to get excited over. It has an inoffensive smell, average performance, and decent versatility. On discounters, a 100mL bottle is selling for $53 at the time of writing.

At this cost, I would not recommend buying it. You can purchase 100mL bottles of most Versace or Dolce & Gabbana fragrances for the same price.

I would have a different opinion if Eternity for Men EDP was in the $30-$40 range.

Presentation

Let’s talk about what a real bottle should look like when you order it. The bottle I am currently using for this review was bought from Tj Maxx. A picture of a 100 mL bottle is shown below. Unfortunately, I no longer have the box.

It’s a clear glass bottle with a silver plastic top and sprayer. The brand and cologne name is on the front, written in black. The color of the juice is a vibrant green. The batch code will be on a sticker at the bottom.

Based on the Calvin Klein website, the box is simple and black with white writing. The batch code will also be on the bottom.

Lastly, the sprayer is average. It lets out a wide, heavy spray but doesn’t shoot far.

History

Eternity for Men EDP was released in 2019 by Calvin Klein. It is a flanker to the original, which was released in 1989. The EDP has kept a similar aroma but added a modern twist. There are a few other flankers, including the summer and intense versions.

Is Eternity for Men EDP for you? Well, it smells good, is inoffensive, and has decent performance. The last few days I’ve been wearing it, I’ve enjoyed it.

It is a very pleasant office-safe and casual wear. Something that you can spray on and go. If you can get it under $40, it’s a decent buy. If more than that, you’re money is better spent elsewhere. Other suggestions at the same price point would be Versace Eros EDP and Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP.
