WHAT IS A Tens UNIT?
A transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) unit is a device that people use to treat Pain. Electrical impulses can also stimulate the body to produce natural pain relievers as known as endorphins. These impulses alert the nervous system, preventing or reducing it from transmitting pain signals to the spinal cord and brain. A TENS unit is operated by delivering small electrical impulses through electrodes that have adhesive pads to attach them to the skin.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
These devices may help with lot of conditions such as neuropathy, fibromyalgia, joint paint, menstrual pain, neck pain, back pain, sports injuries, arthritis, and spinal cord injury. A TENS unit is also very convenient due to their portable size and they're preferred by most people as a drug free pain relief alternative, as most medicine may cause side affects. People can find relief with immediate access no matter where they are through out the day.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE AFFECTS?
A TENS unit is safe to use by most people and in most cases there are little to no side affects. Some people may find the tingling sensation caused by the impulses a bit uncomfortable. Pads can cause allergic reaction for some people; however, this can be avoided by using hypoallergenic pads. it's significant that the pads are never placed in front of the neck or on the eyes as it may cause injuries.
DO NOT USE IF
These machines may be safe for most people; however, there's a small group of people that can not use them. This applies to the following group:
People with heart problems.
People who have an active pacemaker.
People with Epilepsy.
Pregnant women.
