Samsung Galaxy J4+ and J6+ Go Official with a Side-Mounted Fingerprint Sensor

Samsung has unveiled a pair of new budget phones under its J series. Called the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+, the new devices are plus upgrades to two existing models and feature a modest set of hardware as you’d expect from any Samsung affordable phone.

There’s not much difference between the two, either. Both have a 6-inch tall 720p screen and are powered by a quad-core chipset. Oddly, though, the Galaxy J6, which theoretically should have an inferior processor, comes with an octa-core chip. Other similarities between the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ include a 3300mAh battery, Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s own skin on top, and a fingerprint sensor housed under the power key.

So what is different? The cameras. The Galaxy J6+ features two sensors on the rear — a regular 13-Megapixel f/1.9 and another 5-megapixel snapper for depth-sensing. The Galaxy J4+, on the other hand, has a single 13-megapixel shooter. On the front as well, the Galaxy J6+ has a better 8-megapixel selfie camera compared to the 5-megapixel lens on the Galaxy J4+.

The other key difference is in the memory department. The Galaxy J6+ will be available in either 3GB or 4GB RAM options, while the J4+ offers 2GB and 3GB RAM variants. The internal storage varies too among the two phones. The Galaxy J6+ has 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage, while the J4+ is restricted to 32GB or 16GB.

Samsung is yet to announce the global pricing and availability details. Although, both the phones are expected to debut in India on September 25th as Amazon exclusives.
