Claridge’s boasts a beautiful spa and gym, with a variety of excellent bars and restaurants. The Royal Suite provides the most luxurious of accommodation, with original Edwardian furniture, a grand piano and dining room which seats 10.

As the only luxury hotel in London to be run and owned by the family that built it, The Goring has a strong connection to classic English hospitality. The hotel provides the best of food and drink, in the Michelin-starred restaurant, the Bar and Lounge where afternoon tea is served or the quintessentially English Gin Garden. Accommodation in the Royal Suite is nothing if not lavish, designed in 2011 by Russell Sage featuring two marble bathrooms, a grand piano, a four-poster bed and a life-size portrait of Queen Victoria.

Opened in 2012, The Bulgari Hotel is the most contemporary on our list, but that doesn’t make it any less extravagant. The hotel has incredible facilities, including a 47 seat cinema, a 25-metre swimming pool, a Cigar Shop, a Ballroom, a full gym and a large spa treatment centre. The hotel occupies a Regency London building often compared to The National Gallery, and features original Georgian features, recently refurbished.
