The Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) are four year engineering undergraduate degree courses that  offer same prospects. There is a lot of confusion for people regarding this. 

There is no difference between BE and BTech. Many institutions offer BE and ME ( Masters in Engineering) programs. The Curriculum for BE and BTech are same. The student will have to pick the right institute for his studies.

In the past, the course was known as "Licentiate in Engineering"then BSc Engineering was gradually changed to Bachelor of Engineering. Older Institutes like Indian Institute of Science and Banaras Universities offered BE program.The Nomenclature was changed in the year 1951.after the establishment of first Indian Institutes  of Technology or IITs. BITS Pilani has been offering BE degree program for years.

BTech is basically Skilled based course and the main focus is on implementing practical applications along with theoretical approach. .As it is a skill based the course curriculum is updated frequently. BE is Knowledge based course.The main focus is on understanding the basic fundamentals and gaining theoretical knowledge and so course curriculum will not be updated frequently.

The shift towards Technology could be one reason as the term BTech gained more popularity with IITs  and then other universities started calling BTech rather than BE. The trend is leaning towards the Technology and so BTech has become more popular even though BE and BTech are having same curriculum. It is mainly about the talent shown by the candidates. There could be differences regarding BE or BTech depending on Individual Institutions but companies will offer jobs based on their performance in the test not on the basis of degree.
