Chandigarh. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to take up the issue of the release of nine Sikhs who have been in jail for three decades before the United Nations and the International Court of Justice. The Executive Committee constituted the International Sikh Advisory Board consisting of 13 members. The advisory board will work on Sikh issues at the global level and the number of its members will be increased in the future. SGPC will also give an honorarium of Rs 20,000 to each Sikh prisoner. These decisions have been taken during the meeting of the SGPC's executive committee.

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has expressed displeasure over the injustice being done to Sikhs in jails, saying that this is a major violation of human rights. For which voices will be raised on international forums. He said that the Sikh prisoners Bhai Gurdeep Singh Kheda, Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar, Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Bhai Shamsher Singh, and Bhai Paramjit Singh Bhoora were given 20 thousand rupees. The monthly honorarium will be given Rs. He said that out of these, this honorarium is already being given to Rajoana. SGPC has said that it strongly condemns the allegedly discriminatory policy being adopted by the governments in the matter of the release of Sikh prisoners.

He said that it has been decided to file a writ petition in the High Court against the government for providing protection to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a sentence for murder and rape. He has repeatedly questioned the parole granted to the Dera chief. Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Ram Rahim hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs by cutting the cake from Kirpan to celebrate his parole. The kirpan is considered a symbol associated with the Sikhism faith and its insult cannot be tolerated.
