IGNCA takes out ‘Silent March’ in memory of ‘Partition’ Victims

New Delhi: On 14th August, 2021 Prime Minister Narendra Modi solemnly declared that henceforth 14th August will be observed as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’. The partition still remains a compelling account of human hardship and tragedy ever known to humankind. Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), to mark the memory, struggles and sacrifices of our people, held a series of events on 14th August.

Earlier in the morning, IGNCA in association with the Partition Museum organized an event ‘Vibhajan ki Smriti’ at Dara Shikoh Library, Ambedkar University, New Delhi. The chief guest of the event was Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas. Renowned dancer and Rajya Sabha MP ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Dr. Sonal Mansingh was the special guest of the programme. On this occasion, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, Mrs. Kishwar Desai, President of Partition Museum and Dr. K. Anil Kumar were also present. In this event, Union Minister Hardeep Puri talked about the displacement of his family at the time of partition and recalled the horrors of partition.
