Where to Find the Best Christmas Lunches in London this December

So, you’re looking to make your London Christmas shopping trip feel truly special by tucking into some delicious turkey with all the trimmings. Perhaps you’re planning a celebration with friends and loved ones, or maybe you’re staying with us at our Earls Court hotel on Christmas Day itself, and are now searching for the perfect place to dine out.

Whatever the case may be, the Amsterdam Hotel have got you well covered. Below, we asked members of our team to give us their picks for the best Christmas lunches in London.

Get your paper hats and Christmas crackers at the ready, it’s time to dig in.

The Troubadour

267 Old Brompton Road, Earls Court, SW5 9JA

It would simply be wrong of us to start our list of the best Christmas lunches in London anywhere other than The Troubadour.

Literally right around the corner from our Earls Court Hotel, this historic music venue, cafe, and restaurant is as well known for showcasing legendary performers like Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan as it is for serving up truly incredible food.

Yet whilst there’s the usual epic array of live entertainment going on there this December, it’s the venue’s famous Christmas lunch menu that the Amsterdam Hotel team are most excited about.

Serving pre-booked parties daily until December 23rd, The Troubadour offers a traditional three-course festive feast, along with seafood or vegan based options for starters and main course, and a choice of chocolate torte, tart au citron, stollen or coffee and biscotti for dessert.

The Pembroke

261 Old Brompton Road, Earls Court, SW5 9JA

Staying close by to Earls Court for the time being, we couldn’t resist including The Pembroke once we saw their Christmas menu.

The classic Roast Norfolk turkey and 28 day dry aged Angus rib eye main courses are enough to literally make our mouths water, whilst the marzipan & red wine poached pear tart dessert had us rushing to make a repeat booking.

The Pembroke also serves a selection of sharing plates, with traditional pub food, vegetarian and seafood options available.

Bookings are being taken up to Christmas Eve. For details, see:  www.thepembrokesw5.co.uk

The Builders Arms

1 Kensington Court Place, W8 5BJ

The first venue on our list to serve guests on Christmas Day itself, the Builders Arms in Kensington is less than a 15 minute walk from our Earls Court hotel.

In the run-up to December 25th, visitors will have a huge selection to choose from, with a three-course lunch menu boasting no less than six options per course. Alternatively, the festive buffet option offers up everything from delicious hog roast to chicken parfait, sweet chilli and lime glazed squid and more.

Given The Builders Arms’ close proximity, the venue makes the ideal place to eat for those guests staying with us on Christmas Day, when a choice of turkey, beef, fillet steak, pan fried halibut or mushroom wellington awaits you for your main course. For starters, we highly recommend the twice baked goats cheese souffle, which remains one of our favourite starter dishes of the season.

Bluebird Chelsea

350 King’s Road, Chelsea, SW3 5UU

For a seasonal celebration with a touch of glamour and high style, look no further than Chelsea’s Bluebird, an upmarket eatery who really go all out during December.

Open on Christmas Day, the Bluebird is the only place to book if you’re planning a rather elegant and refined December 25th lunch, with traditional turkey complemented by a decadent three course menu, and surroundings that simply exude luxury and a certain yuletide glamour.

Prior to the big day itself, those of you looking to enjoy an early Christmas lunch will have the option to choose between a seasonal set menu or a selection of ‘Bluebird Bites,’ including a whole baked camembert with spiced cranberry chutney that some members of our team still can’t stop talking about.

Ffiona’s Restaurant

51 Kensington Church Street, Kensington, W8 4BA

Unlike the Bluebird and The Builder’s Arms, Ffiona’s Restaurant in Kensington isn’t open on Christmas Day, which is a shame if you ask us, because the warm, enticing atmosphere makes it perfect for such an occasion.

Instead, we’re left to settle with a Christmas lunch menu that is only available until December 23rd, meaning there’s not much time left to book.

Here, our favourites include the Moroccan aubergine salad starter, which comes with a fresh mint and yoghurt dressing, followed by the classic turkey or the courgette and sweet potato noodles for your vegetarian/vegan option, all finished off with a traditional Christmas pudding and brandy source that is by far one of the best we’ve tasted this season.
