Collecting: Printed Fortunes

These fortunes are so old that the paper is yellowing.

Go with me here…since college, I have collected fortunes from Fortune cookies. I keep thinking that I will find a use for them. Until then, they don’t take up much space, so I keep them.

I actually like the texture and flavor of fortune cookies!

I love to read these positive little statements. They make me dream of what I can be, not the doldrums of everyday. How can that hurt? Maybe that will challenge me to actually do more than I do.

Some of my recently acquired fortunes.

My interest in Fortune Cookies goes back to elementary school.  I was assigned the task of making fortune cookies for the class.  I had a recipe from a magazine.  The first couple went fine, but, in my memory, they are a bit like making crepes.  It took more time than I thought it would to make the cookies, create the fortunes, and put it all together.  I probably had to make 20 or 25.  I have not made fortune cookies since that very long night.  Sadly, I did not keep any of my fortunes from that project.  I wonder what I wrote to my classmates?

Have you ever used your lucky numbers for anything?

A quick perusal of Pinterest ferrets out only two craft projects with fortune cookie fortunes:  a photo mat covered in fortunes and a collage frame filled with fortunes.   There are a couple of ideas of what to do with them, such as posting them on a rotating basis on your fridge or binding the collection in a notebook for review.

I couldn’t resist!

What is up? I love these little communiqués, so it looks like there could be more ways to work them into our daily lives.

My tiny collection of fortunes.

So here goes. I just want to share a few. Obviously, I did not write these, so all credit goes to the fortune cookie purveyors…whoever they may be.

This one does seem a bit creepy, depending on who wrote it. Brad Pitt, maybe?
This one was written by the China tourism industry.

Bonus Information:  While on Pinterest, look for funny fortunes.  There are several strange and/or hilarious fortunes posted that people have found in their cookies.  I don’t recall getting any weird ones, but maybe I should dig through mine to see.
