Moore’s Habanero Chicken Wing Sauce

I love chicken wings and while they are best when deep fried they are still pretty dang tasty when you cook them on a grill.

I usually make my wing Sauce out of whatever is on hand in my refrigerator.  I’ll use Frank’s hot sauce as a base then add a little bbq sauce, Italian dressing or some honey.  You know…just whatever grabs me at the moment.

Today I decided to try out a commercial Wing Sauce instead and went with Moore’s Habanero Wing Sauce.

Moore’s usually puts out some nice products and they are traditionally known for their meat marinades.

When I grill wings I aim to cook at a high temps to get a crispy skin.  Before the wings go on the pit they are lightly tossed with some peanut oil and then seasoned with salt and pepper.  Nothing fancy.

It probably took about 45 minutes for the wings to start looking right.  When the skin turns brown and starts bubbling from the fat underneath the skin then you know they are just about ready.

I dunked the wings in the sauce and let them cook for another 10 minutes.  The end result?  They were a bit on the “meh” side of things,

The Moore’s sauce was okay but nothing special.  It is a thin sauce and didn’t cling to the wings that well.  It had a nice bit of heat but no other flavors that stood out.

I wasn’t disappointed with the product but don’t see any reason to buy it again.

The next commercial wing sauce I want to try is from J Timothy tavern.  Their sauce was ranked as the best in the country by Food Network.  That sounds like something worth trying!
