High Protein Frozen Yogurt (ish)

Decided to try to the Cottage Cheese Ice Cream thing that has been floating around the social media sites so here was what I used for my experiment.

  • 1 quart of cottage cheese
  • 1 10 oz jar of maraschino cherries
  • 2 Tbsp of Nutella ( chocolate hazelnut spread )
  • 2 Tbsp of Almond Syrup
  • ¼ Cup of chocolate chips

Blended cottage cheese first, added the liquid from the Cherries, and the almond syrup, until smooth. Place some whole cherries and chips in the bottom of container and add the rest depending on how many whole cherries and chips you like. Pulse the rest of your cherries and chocolate in your base, pour in container, chill in fridge over night or in freezer for a couple hours.

Touch loose , but that is how I like it, beats the heat.

Honestly, it tastes like frozen yogurt but the flavors you can mix in and the amount of protein, and really filled the urge when I needed to have something sweet, so give it a try. I recycled a plastic pickle container to use for it , but it still works. It does not taste like full fat ice cream but, I am thinking a change of churning, where it is churned like an ice cream and it should be a better texture, and the addition of ingredients with more fat should help it as well. It does freeze well I just prefer the texture when just refrigerated so my bowl is filled with more yogurt.

It works well with different flavor combinations and could be scaled up or down as needed. Currently, it is my go to when I need something to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Makes 5 cups
