Never Never – A Poem by J H Martin

Never Never

This land is broken
The grass and trees
Are thick

Startled by its demons
A path cannot be found

Wandering
Stumbling

A starving pack
Has gathered

Their teeth sharp
Their nature cruel

Any chance of peace
Forgotten

Picking up
The bloody apron
I throw it on the pyre

I don’t want to be a soldier
But I don’t want to be oppressed
