Orange County, TX (July 21, 2019) On the evening of July 19th, a fatal motorcycle accident happened on the Interstate 10 freeway near mile marker 858. A 42-year-old man named John Franklin Martin was traveling eastbound in his 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crashed into a couch that was sitting in the middle of the roadway. Martin was unable to brake fast enough and ejected off of his motorcycle and onto the highway. The accident took place at around 10:45 p.m.
When the paramedics and police arrived to help him, they found him lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. They rushed him to St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Beaumont where he later passed away.
Authorities are investigating the collision and will reveal more information once they finalize their reports.
