Florida Medicaid Waiver Program

What is the Florida Medicaid Waiver Program?

Medicaid is an entitlement program, run by the state and funded by the federal government. Now, in order to qualify for Medicaid, there are two components. We’re talking specifically about long term care. To qualify for Medicaid there is a financial component and there are guidelines, income requirements, and asset limits. That’s one whole part of Medicaid. Another part of Medicaid requirements are the physical and care requirements. A person needs to qualify both financially and medically for Medicaid. They have to NEED care and not have enough money to pay for their care. The Medicaid Waiver Program will allow them to stay at home and receive in home care and to receive care in an assisted living community. The Medicaid waiver program is inundated with applications, it is rare to receive your waiver, but you can qualify for a waiver, get on the wait list and hopefully this will resolve all of your long term care needs.
