Riverside County in California has enacted a Program to reduce Elder Abuse, called the CARE (Curtailing Abuse Related to the Elderly) Program. This program is part of the Adult Services Division.

What Does the CARE Program Do?

The CARE Program provides services to people who have suffered from elder abuse and consumer crime. Through the program, incidents of consumer fraud against elders are investigated. The program also holds training and information sessions along with presentations to community and professional groups to teach them how to recognize and report instances of elder abuse. In addition, the CARE Program coordinates the multi-disciplinary elder abuse teams that work to bring professionals with the ability to investigate possible abuse and provide services to elderly individuals who need the help.

Who Benefits from the CARE Program?

The CARE Program benefits any resident of Riverside County who is need of direct advocacy for elderly victims of consumer fraud. Additionally, all residents of Riverside County benefit from the CARE program, since it encourages reporting instances of elder abuse and consumer fraud.
