Turkey Earthquake: Little Survivor Rescued After 33 Nightmarish Hours

A 6.4 magnitude Earthquake struck Turkey’s western province of Izmir on Friday, causing widespread damage and leaving many trapped under the rubble. Despite the dire situation, rescuers worked tirelessly to save lives, and their efforts paid off when a toddler was finally rescued after being trapped for 33 hours. While Rescue teams scramble to find survivors trapped under debris following a series of massive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, some heartbreaking videos of children and their parents claiming to be from the disaster-stricken countries have emerged on social media.

A 14-month-old baby was rescued alive after being trapped under rubble in Turkey’s quake-hit Hatay province for more than 30 hours. A video shared by ANADOLU AGENCY showed her being carried to safety in the arms of a rescue worker, while onlookers applauded their efforts. While rescue teams work to find survivors trapped under debris following a series of massive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, some heartbreaking videos of children and their parents have emerged on social media.

In a similar incident, Charles Lister, the director of the Middle Eastern Institute’s Syrian chapter, posted photos of two incidents in which Syrian rescuers and civilians in rebel-held areas rescued two children from the rubble of collapsed buildings, where their chances of survival were slim to none.

The death toll from Turkey and Syria’s devastating earthquake has surpassed 5,000. The region has experienced five major earthquakes since the first 7.8 magnitude quake, which flattened apartment buildings, destroyed hospitals, and left thousands more injured or homeless.

Earlier in the day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in ten provinces devastated by the earthquake, which has killed over 3,500 people in Turkey alone.

The news of the toddler’s rescue was met with jubilation and tears of joy. The rescue workers hugged each other and celebrated their hard-won victory. The child was taken to a local hospital for medical attention, but the prognosis is positive. There is no doubt that the child will recover fully.

Conclusion:

The earthquake in Turkey was a tragedy that claimed many lives, but the rescue of the toddler is a story of hope and resilience. The rescue workers’ unwavering determination to save the child is a testament to their bravery and their commitment to saving lives. The little survivor’s miraculous survival is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, hope prevails.
