UAE for Gaza: 10,100 volunteers gather 25,000 relief boxes

In an inspiring demonstration of solidarity and compassion, the people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have once again rallied together for a noble cause, making an indelible impact on the lives of those affected by the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. This remarkable endeavor, aptly named “Tarahum – for Gaza,” is a testament to the deep-rooted humanitarian values that define the UAE’s diverse community.

Over the course of just two days, an astounding 10,100 volunteers from all walks of life came together with unwavering determination to provide aid and relief to the Palestinian people who have been facing immense challenges in Gaza. The volunteers worked tirelessly in coordinated events held in the vibrant cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, with a singular goal in mind: to assemble 25,000 urgent relief packages. This incredible feat was supported by the collection of more than 550 tonnes of essential relief materials.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of this initiative is the collaborative spirit that has been at the forefront. In a commendable partnership with the World Food Programme, 120 tonnes of humanitarian aid, encompassing vital food supplies and essential items for children and mothers, have been dispatched to el-Arish, Egypt. From there, these provisions are set to be transported into the Gaza Strip, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the population receive the crucial assistance they require during these trying times.

The “Tarahum – for Gaza” campaign is being closely overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) and the World Food Programme. The Ministry of Community Development is also playing a pivotal role in coordinating this massive humanitarian effort. It’s not just a government-led endeavor; a total of 20 charitable and humanitarian institutions, as well as national volunteer platforms, have united under the banner of this campaign, further exemplifying the collective commitment of the UAE’s society to make a meaningful difference.

This campaign is not merely a one-off response to a pressing crisis; it is a reflection of the UAE’s enduring dedication to alleviating the suffering caused by disasters and crises worldwide. It underscores the UAE’s fundamental principles of human solidarity and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people, particularly those who are most vulnerable, including children and women. The aim is to alleviate the profound humanitarian crisis that has gripped the Gaza Strip, and “Tarahum – for Gaza” is a resounding affirmation of the UAE’s pledge to provide relief and support to those in need.

The collective efforts of the UAE’s citizens and residents in the “Tarahum – for Gaza” campaign stand as a shining example of the power of unity and compassion, transcending borders and boundaries to extend a helping hand to those facing dire circumstances. It is a testament to the unyielding spirit of humanity, where people come together to make a positive impact on the lives of others, proving that even in the face of adversity, acts of kindness and generosity have the potential to reshape destinies and bring hope to those who need it most. The UAE’s commitment to this cause is a beacon of hope for those affected by the Gaza crisis, and a reminder to the world that we are all interconnected, bound by our shared humanity and the values of compassion, solidarity, and empathy.
