MK Men Skin Care 55 day offseason endeavor. The first half of it.

MK Men Skin Care 55 day offseason endeavor. And… to be clear, I do not work for this company. This is an exploration journey for my skin and myself.

Been reading up on skincare options and want to see how this rolls out. I got the product, was advised how to use it and have been tracking. I found an independent consultant named Claudia Swanik. Talking to her and learning about skin care as a whole has made me realize a great deal of elements that I never took into consideration when it came to proper skincare. A collection of sorts of my authentic opinions amplified and the experiences I had first hand.

Here is the first half with the experiences I have had. They are also tracked on Twitter here:  https://twitter.com/MKMen55Day ….

1:
It is a strange moment when I realized I have been washing my face wrong for years… check that, decades. This experience right out of the huddle (had to go with a Super Bowl reference today) is as much about learning as it is the products.

2:
Test drove the MK Men Shave Foam this morning. Been a shave gel guy for a long time so I am not sure yet. Smells good though, nice lather and you can cover a full face with very little. Shave was solid, but want to see how it feels after a few more times.

Day 3:
A little dab will do ya! I’m a big guy, with a big face. After a couple days of using the MK Men Shave Foam, I notice a little goes a very long way. Finding the foam to be gentle, calming on the skin and most impressively, not needing all that much of it.

4:
Four days of test driving the aftershave gel. Experiencing a big difference in a few days from the lotion I used to use. Neck feels cooler, smoother and more relaxed with the MK Men Cooling After Shave Gel. It’s funny, it’s cooling but also warming too.

5:
It feels light and not oily. In five days, Im noticing a slight change and a small reduction in some of the dark circles and shadows. MK Men Advanced Eye Cream feels moisturizing and even a bit firming. I’ve found others to be too drying or too oily.

6:
The accountability and follow through can play as much a part of a solid skin care routine as the products themselves.

I am noticing the attention to detail and commitment to the products is beginning to create the changes in my skin even over a short time.

7 & 8:
Took the weekend off from shaving. I felt a noticeable difference by Saturday afternoon. My skin felt much more relaxed from the past week of using the MK Men line. The break was more about relaxing the skin over the usual recovering from the razor.

9:
Just as it is smart to hydrate your skin everyday, it is also a smart idea to protect it. UV rays are not just reaching you on the sunny days. I’m finding the MK Men Advanced Facial Hydrator Sunscreen to be as moisturizing as it is protecting.

10:
Effective skin care is a long game for the patient.
It can come down to..
– following the directions for the products…
– applying the products correctly…
– committing to the process…
and remaining accountable for the long term follow through.

11:
In many of our skin care routines, some of us forget to wash our hands, clean wash cloths and towels. As we clean and nourish our skin, I think it is a good idea to clean all the surfaces and items that our skin touches. MK Men Daily facial Wash for me comes after washing my hands now.

12:
Others noticing results on Day 12. My daughter snuggles with me every night before she goes to bed. Last night, she ran her hand across my face and neck like she does often, she said… “Daddy, your neck feels so soft.” I call that a noticeable result.

13:
Learn your skin. The right tool or product for the right job is something I am seeing to be true in skincare. From not washing your hands with the same thing you wash your face with and not moisturizing your eyes with what you use on the rest of your face.

MK Men Skin Care Day 14 and 15

I do not want to throw shade or overshadow (those are the hip terms right?) just how great the reduction of shadows under the eyes has been. Noticing after two weeks, a very dramatic reduction in the shadows/darkness under the eyes with the eye cream.

16:
Starting the day with just the right kind of foam to go on the face and the right kind of foam to go in the coffee. MK Men Shave Foam for Sensitive Skin and some milk foam for a cinnamon latte. Smooth taste and smooth skin makes for a smooth day.

MK Men Shave Foam and MK Men Cooling After Shave Gel.

17:
I’ve learned about how your pillows can be an important part of your skincare. Our skin spends a lot of time on our pillow cases. So, are we changing those pillow cases often enough to ensure we are caring for our skin at night? I’m now twice a week.

Day 18:
A clean sink can help with your skincare routine. Many men (including me, tap our razors to clear the blades, between strokes. If our sinks aren’t clean, we’re bringing whatever is on them on to our faces. Clean your face and your sink for better results.

19:
Consider changing that mask, cleaning those glasses daily. Has anyone noticed “maskcne”… more acne from wearing a mask or “glasscne”… the nose break outs from glasses. An additional skin care tip I got from MK that brought it home today.

20:
Learning the water we drink is a core part of a solid skincare routine. While the cleanser, moisturizer, eye cream, shave foam and the aftershave have made all the difference… making sure Im drinking the right amount of water really shows in the skin.

Keeping your skin in check?

21 and 22:
A series of studies from Harvard Health Publishing share it’s a myth that eating chocolate or oily foods causes oily skin & acne. Instead of decreasing the chocolate, consider increasing the care of your skin with the right skin care products.

23:
Kept playing with jokes surrounding hydration, fish, treasure chests and even a yellow submarine. But I think I will just leave this one alone with a very cool picture of the MK Men Shave Foam and Cooling After Shave Gel in front of a fish tank.

24:
Even on cloudy days, sunscreen can be a good idea. Hydrate and protect your skin on the sunny days & the cloudy days with two products in one application. MK Men Advanced Facial Hydrator Sunscreen Brand Spectrum SPF 30 and it’s not too oily or smelly.

25:
The right tools used for the right job with the right care may help improve your skincare routine dramatically. Soap for your hands might not be what you should use on your face. Cleanser for your face might not be what you should use for your eyes.

26:
Part of your skin care routine can be fish. Yup. Fish like Salmon, Trout and Herring can bring oils to lubricate cells and decrease inflammation as well as omega-3 fatty acids that are great for your skin and heart.

27:
Consider washing your hands before washing your face to reduce the chances even more of transferring bacteria, which can, in turn reduce acne and skin infections.
Thanks Claudia for this tip that makes perfect sense to me.

Now, on to the next 27 days with the mens line
