I’ve been listening to Kanye West’s new Album, The Life Of Pablo, and I honestly love it.
He has such an interesting and innovative approach to music in this album and there is something about it that’s just enthralling. I can’t stop listening to the songs. It’s more religious than I expected but it’s not like a religious album, there are just a lot of allusions and references to God. It’s an A1 album. 10/10 would recommend.
The thing about it that really struck me was his use of words in the music. Like his album isn’t just music, like there’s basically a slam poem with a beat in the background in one of the tracks, and I really like how he’s adding different aspects like that to his music. There is definitely nothing like his album on the market right now nor has there ever been anything like it in the past, in my opinion. Even though Kanye can be a dick, I have to give him credit because he’s seriously very talented with his funky beats and such.
The album also has like a sense of cohesion even though each of the songs are so different. Like I feel like I get the message and the meaning of the title through all the songs. I can’t quite put it into words, but it makes sense when I listen to the album in full. (I’ve had a lot of time on my hands recently so I’ve been listening to a lot of Yeezy.)
My favorites on the album (in respective order) are:
- Ultralight Beam
- Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1
- Pt. 2
- Famous
- Low Lights
- Freestyle 4
- Waves
- Frank’s Track
- 30 Hours
- Fade
You should definitely check out the album. I’d be curious to see what other responses to it are.
