In 1953, the SAC managed to get the Alpe Musgatina farmhouse in Condra mountains dedicated as a base for the first ski school in the Canton of Ticino. Eighty years later, the Capanna Monte Bar was built by Mendrisio, Piffaretti and Romano, architects that had won an architecture competition in 2014.
The hut faces south and is considered the perfect vantage from which to view the Luganese, the Prealps, the Apennines with the Monviso triangle, Monte Rosa and the peaks of the Ticino Alps. Access to the hut is available year round and provides support to mountain bikers with storage facilities and battery charging.
