SpaceX tests Starship before third flight attempt in Texas

SpaceX continues its Starship tests in Boca Chica, Texas, after a busy week of cargo launches. Unlike the long intervals between tests last year, There is now less time between tests due to site changes and government approvals. The company recently loaded the Starship with fuel before halting the process and opening nearby roads.

Although SpaceX does not release the details of the tests before they take place, road closures in Boca Chica often indicate how close the tests are. During these tests, the dangerous fueling process requires road closures.

This Friday (16), after closing the roads, SpaceX loaded Starship with propellant, surprising by doing so earlier than usual. The tests took place at a cloudy launch site, reminiscent of SpaceX launches in California.

Before launching such a large rocket into orbit, SpaceX performs several on-site tests, including Static Ignition and tank tests. Static ignition tests check engines for anomalies, while tank tests ensure the vehicle can withstand fuel pressure.

Today’s tests, focused on the tanks, were brief, indicated by the vehicle’s rapid depressurization. With testing apparently complete, SpaceX hopes to resume activities after the federal holiday.

The next Starship test is scheduled for next month, but may be delayed considering the complex nature of space development.
