Hyundai Exter: A New Subcompact SUV for India
The Hyundai Exter is a new subcompact SUV launched in India in July 2023. It is based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and shares its platform, engines, and transmissions. The Exter has three powertrain options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine, a 1.2-litre CNG engine, and a 1.2-litre petrol engine with an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Hyundai Exter Specifications
The Hyundai Exter is a 5-seater SUV that measures 3995 mm long, 1770 mm wide, and 1610 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2520 mm and a ground clearance of 190 mm. The Exter’s kerb weight is 990 kg for the petrol variant, 1,025 kg for the CNG variant, and 1,040 kg for the AMT variant.
The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that perfectly balances performance and fuel efficiency. It produces 82 bhp and 114 Nm of torque and is available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The Exter’s engine is smooth and refined, delivering plenty of power for everyday driving. The AMT transmission is a good option for those who want the convenience of an automatic transmission without sacrificing fuel economy.
The CNG variant of the Exter produces 68 bhp and 95 Nm of torque. It is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Hyundai Exter is available in 9 colours: Starry Night, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Aquamarine Blue, Denim Blue, Titan Grey, Phantom Black, and Passion Orange.
