Blinken in Jordan as Gaza war rages

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Jordan's King Abdullah II after failing to secure humanitarian "pauses" in Israel's war against Hamas. Blinken also joined a meeting of foreign ministers from five Arab countries, along with a representative from the Palestinian Authority. In discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Blinken proposed "humanitarian pauses" to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas and distribute aid to Gaza. However, Netanyahu stated that there would be no truce unless Hamas releases the hostages. The conflict has raised concerns of further escalation, and protests in Jordan have called for a ceasefire.
