Fighting in Gaza intensifies as Netanyahu rejects calls for cease-fire

Israeli ground forces have advanced further into Gaza, freeing a captive soldier and killing one of the leaders of the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected calls for a cease-fire, stating that it would be surrendering to Hamas. The military has killed dozens of militants and struck over 600 militant targets. Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel, and they are believed to be holding around 240 captives. The U.S. continues to provide weapons shipments to Israel, and the death toll among Palestinians has passed 8,300.
