British military intelligence has said that Russia is Training Dolphins in Crimea to counter Ukrainian forces. The Russian navy is believed to have invested heavily in security at the Black Sea Fleet's main base in Sevastopol since last year. The intelligence report claims that the defences have been augmented by an increased number of trained marine mammals. The animals are said to be "likely intended to counter enemy divers". The Russian navy has previously used beluga whales and seals for a range of missions in Arctic waters.
