Deaths of American couple prompt Mexican hotel to suspend operations

A luxury hotel in Mexico owned by Hyatt has temporarily suspended normal operations following the deaths of a California couple. Abby Lutz, 28, and her boyfriend John Heathco, 41, were found dead in their hotel room last Tuesday. Prosecutors in Mexico’s Baja California Sur state said last week that autopsies suggest Lutz and Heathco died of “intoxication by an undetermined substance.” The hotel will not resume normal operations until the investigation is complete. The couple had been treated for what they thought was food poisoning before their deaths.
