The program will be run by the CGLCC, a chamber of commerce for Canada’s LGBTQ community, and will include a business scale-up program, an ecosystem fund, and a knowledge hub. The Economic Development Department says there are more than 100,000 LGBTQ-owned and -operated businesses in Canada, employing over 435,000 workers and generating over $22 billion in economic activity. One in four LGBTQ entrepreneurs reportedly face discrimination or lose their business because of who they are.
