Turkey has experienced at least 12 internet Restrictions or shutdowns since 2015, with fears mounting of further censorship during the country’s upcoming presidential election runoff. Cybersecurity firm Surfshark has reported that each of Turkey’s recorded internet disruptions has taken place during political unrest. Since 2015, at least 29 countries worldwide have experienced election-related internet restrictions, with Asia accounting for 580 disruptions, according to Surfshark.
