Kirstie Alley, star of ‘Cheers’ and Emmy winner, has died at the age of 71.

Kirstie Alley, famed for her appearances in the comedy “Cheers,” the “Look Who’s Talking” movie, and other roles, died of cancer, her family said Monday. She was 71 years old.

Her disease was just recently found, according to her relatives.

Kirstie Alley has been a household name for many years, having been on successful sitcoms such as “Cheers” and “Veronica’s Closet.” She also acted in a number of now-classic films, including “It Takes Two,” in which she co-starred with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and the “Look Who’s Talking” trilogy, in which she co-starred with her good friend, John Travolta.

Alley’s children, True and Lillie Parker, announced the news in a long message on Alley’s official Instagram.
“We are so saddened to inform you that our beautiful, feisty, and beloved mother has died after a brief fight with cancer,” the message started.

The performer “died surrounded by her closest family,” the children said, adding she “fought with incredible courage, leaving us with a knowledge of her never-ending pleasure of living and whatever experiences lie ahead.” While people recognized Alley for her work on the big screen, her children made a point of mentioning what a wonderful mother and grandmother she was. They also expressed gratitude to the personnel at Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida for their kind care of the celebrity.

“Our mother’s zeal and love for life, her children, grand kids, and numerous animals, not to mention her perpetual delight of creating,” they said in a statement.

The family did not disclose any other information, such as when physicians diagnosed the celebrity with the ailment and what stage it was at when they discovered it. Alley’s publicist, on the other hand, is sharing additional light on her devastating diagnosis, as well as the sort of cancer she faced.

Alley joined the cast of “Cheers” as bartender Rebecca Howe in 1987 and left in 1993. She also starred as Veronica Chase in the 1997-2000 television series “Veronica’s Closet.”

Alley had a famous appearance as Lt. Saavik in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” and she co-starred in the “Look Who’s Talking” flicks with John Travolta.

She portrayed Ms. Robin Elizabeth Bishop in the 1987 film “Summer School,” and Gladys Leeman in the 1999 film “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” She appeared in scores of TV and film roles during the course of her more than 40-year career.

She received two Emmy nominations: for best lead in a comedy series in “Cheers” in 1991 and for outstanding lead in a miniseries or special in “David’s Mother” in 1994.

Alley, a Wichita, Kansas native, married actor Parker Stevenson in 1983, and the couple adopted two children, William True and Lilly Price. The couple divorced in 1997.

Alley belonged to the Church of Scientology, which she frequently supported in interviews. She credits Scientology’s Narconon programme for assisting her in overcoming a cocaine addiction. She told Fox anchor Tucker Carlson last year that she was constantly insulted for her ideas.

The Church of Scientology described her as a “loving member” who would be missed. “Kirstie was recognised the world over for her compassion, charm, and irresistible sense of humour,” the statement stated.

Alley was also a Jenny Craig advocate and open about her weight-loss issues. In 2012, she published “The Art of Men,” and in 2005, she published “How to Lose Your Ass and Regain Your Life.”

Tim Allen, who co-starred in “For Richer or Poorer” with Alley in 1997, also paid homage to his buddy on Twitter. “Kristie Alley lost a wonderful soul. It’s heartbreaking news. Prayers for her whole family, “the actor penned.

Jamie Lee Curtis, who co-starred with Alley in the television series “Scream Queens,” said on Instagram that Alley was “a lovely mom bear in her very real life” and that “She assisted me in purchasing onesie for my family for Christmas that year.”

The actors of “Cheers” responded to the news with grief. Alley and Rhea Perlman were friends almost immediately, according to Rhea Perlman. Perlman stated in a statement, “Her love of being was inexhaustible.”

Ted Danson, whose character Sam Malone in “Cheers” pursues Howe as a love interest but is constantly rejected, recalls watching an old episode on a plane Monday in which Alley was “really fantastic.” “She made me snicker when she shot that scene quite a while back, she actually makes me chuckle now.” “I figured out Kirstie had kicked the bucket as I was getting off the plane,” Danson said in an explanation.

“I am both sad and thankful about all of the times she made me laugh.” My sincere sympathies go out to her kids. “As they all know, their mother had a golden heart,” he remarked. “I’m going to miss her.”

Kirstie Alley’s cause of death was announced just one day after fans learned of her passing. Alley died of cancer, especially colon cancer, according to a spokeswoman for the actor. According to Mount Sinai Medical Center, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, indicating that it is rather prevalent. In the same way that pancreatic cancer claimed the life of “Jeopardy!” Colon malignant growth is normally not distinguished until it has advanced or arrived at extreme stages, as indicated by have Alex Trebek, specialists, and patients. This is why many in the medical field refer to it as the “silent killer.”

Many of Alley’s celebrity friends have spoken out after her passing, including one of her best friends, John Travolta. In a heartfelt statement, he said, “Kirstie was one of the most unique partnerships I’ve ever had.”
“Kirstie, I adore you. I’m sure we’ll see each other again.” Travolta’s tweet featured a flashback photo of Alley, followed by another of the duo smiling together

Alley was rather silent on social media before to her death, with her final post (before her death notification) coming on September 21 to promote “The Masked Singer.”
Rest in peace, my friend.
