Anderson — was a financial hit and remains a nostalgic favorite among filmgoers who grew up with the games. Yet its disastrous 1997 sequel squandered some goodwill from the public. Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban in Doom Source: Universal Pictures This 2005 film for the most part overlooked what made the first person shooter work. Instead, the movie left stars Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban in a generic sci-fi action movie that used only the games signature style for a single exciting sequence that employs a first person perspective. Now that films like the recent Hardcore Henry have dedicated themselves entirely to this idea, there is little justification why a new take on Doom can not produce a film that remains more true to the source material.

Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in Max Payne Source: Fox The film version of this third-person shooter was headlined before they shared the screen in Ted Mark Wahlberg, and Mila Kunis. While the games offer entertaining neo-noir stories set in the midst of a spectacular visual style and numerous “bullet-time” sequences, the 2008 film strips the source material of everything that makes it so distinctive that it transforms into a dull revenge thriller. One movie in the line-up is said to be Shang-Chi, based on the same-name Marvel hero who headlined the Kung Fury Master series. However the character’s co-creator has expectations that when it’s adapted for the big screen, at least one thing will be different. Here’s what the SDCC had to say. Starlin was promoting one of his early Captain Marvel comics. I realized that if you set it up somewhere else you can get a whole different slant on a story. He expanded to give an example setting a story in space where characters are both black and white it was less likely to upset people than the races we associate with a story on Earth. If you take it away a bit you can get people to think about it without setting off nerve endings Starlin said about the inherent racism that is often absent in comics. In other words, as they relate to space characters, people who are biased will come together to get these messages of acceptance.

The moderator calls working on Shang-Chi “a bit of a departure” from Starlin’s usual work And he doesn’t seem to have much good memories of the time working on it calling it “a series of unfortunate incidents.” He ended up in Marvel with the intention of doing a kung fu comic storyline but it didn’t turn out the way he had expected. Starlin reminds the antagonist Fu Man Chu who plays on all sorts of negative Asian stereotypes. After Starlin first read a comic starring the character, he mentions its origin in “yellow peril.” “In these things, anyone who is not white is villainous. I was quite frankly scared. And that’s why I sort of ditched Shang-Chi after just three issues. “He says he worked with Stan Lee on the concept when developing the Shang Chi character. Starlin said, “He didn’t like any of the straight Asian faces I’d made. “He preferred the face on the costume design that had been a generic face with a square jaw. And that is where the Shang-Chi Eurasian part came from. Because we couldn’t see just making the face and saying that he was purely Asian.
