Kenya bids to increase forest cover by 3% in next ten years

Kenya aims to increase its Forest Cover to over 10% from the current 7%. The government has allocated over $80 million this year to achieve this target. The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service encouraged residents of Nairobi to plant trees to help reach the goal of 30% forest cover in the capital. Kenya is experiencing worsening droughts due to climate change and illegal logging continues to be a problem. The President has made the restoration program a priority and received praise from King Charles III during his recent visit to the country.
