Kawangware traders protest over demolition by city council

Kawangware Traders held demonstrations on Friday morning following the demolition of their vibandas by the city council.

The morning demonstrations halted services along the Naivasha road causing a huge traffic snarl-up as the traders demanded answers from the city council.

Police were forced to step in and lobbied teargas to disperse the angry traders who requested to know how they will fend for themselves once their source of livelihood has been destroyed.

At the time of publishing, normalcy had slowly returned in the area but burnt tyres occupied the roads.

A few public transport services were plying the route as those available are reported to have hiked the fare due to the risk involved.

Those planning to use the route have been advised to use a boda boda once they alight at james gichuru/gitanga junction.
