Israel Bombs Besieged Gaza After Attack Follows UAE, Bahrain Deals

The Israeli defense forces have carried out a series of airstrikes on the besieged Strip of Gaza on Wednesday, causing heavy property damage, the local media confirmed. The WAFA, the official Palestinian news agency, further added that the Israeli warplanes fired missiles in the northern strip in Beit Lahiya.

Meanwhile, the planes also targeted the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, as well as parts of southern Gaza. However, no fatalities were reported by Wafa. On Wednesday, Hamas, the group which governs the strip, warned the Israeli authorities in a statement, saying that their response and resistance to their aggression against its citizens will be direct.

The statement further added, “We will increase and expand our response to the extent that the occupation persists in its aggression.” Meanwhile, in response to the recent airstrikes, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Group said that the “resistance” fired rocket salvoes at Israel without naming any factions.

Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, the IDF said in a statement that it carried out as many as 10 strikes on the targets of Hamas. It maintained that this was a retaliation to the earlier strikes on Israeli soil. According to the local media, on the eve of Tuesday, at least two rockets were fired from the besieged strip.

However, one of them was intercepted by Israel’s air defense system, while the other hit the coastal city of Ashdod. As a result, two people were wounded. These rockets were fired at the same time as Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE were inking an agreement in Washington to normalize diplomatic relations.

However, the Palestinian people who seek both the Gaza Strip and the Occupied West Bank for their future state have continuously dubbed the US-brokered agreement as a betrayal to Palestine’s cause.

The Tuesday’s rockets fire comes a month after the Hamas stepped up balloon attacks against Israel. And these were responded by Israeli night air raids. Meanwhile, the state of Israel has blamed the group for the violence in the Gaza strip, and since 2008, Israel has waged three wars on the besieged strip.

But Hamas has maintained that the Israeli authorities are responsible for the pressure inflicted on its people due to the continued siege of the strip and the state of anger.
