No Resolutions-Only Wish List For 2016

Making resolutions is a neat trap- you know you are going to break most of them, and feel terrible about it for the rest of the year!

Instead, I suggest you make a wish list.
Make a wish list to become happy. Really happy.
Imagine, you have only one year to live.
What will you do?

This is my wish list for 2016. (Who cares after that?)

  1. Be Ok with life

I often get interrupted throughout the day with phone calls and other events, meaning I do not always get to finish what I wanted to. I am learning to be OK with that. I am finding that fewer goals are better than many, and no goal is even better.
I think this is a good starting point for a no goal, no resolution mindset.
It is Ok not to be like Hrithik Roshan.
It is Ok not to be very rich.
It is Ok if you are not famous.
It is Ok if your wife yells at you for forgetting your car keys (10 th time this month)

2. Travel More

It’s tempting to want to get out and see more of the world, especially if you feel stuck in your rut or you haven’t been anywhere lately.
This is one of the most common wishes, just be sure to be a bit more specific on where you want to go because vague ideas rarely get done, but attainable wishes are something you can work with.

Travelling is a soul therapy. Have you made a “bucket List” ?
(This is a list where you write everything you want to do before you kick the bucket –or die !)

100 Places to visit before we die

  1. Reconnect  with an Old Friend

Nowadays it’s easier than ever to find old friends and strike up a new conversation with them. It often happens that two people can drift apart for no good reason, and it just takes one of them to rekindle things.

With social media, you can find anybody. Your old school friend, your biology teacher on whom you had a massive crush.

It takes just six steps or phone calls to connect with anybody-even Barrack Obama.

  1. Be More Adventurous (Take More Chances)

It’s easy to get lulled into a life of routine and ritual, but most of us want to make sure that we’re leading a full and satisfying life.
This doesn’t necessarily mean flying by the seat of your pants and making foolish decisions, but taking calculated risks and adding some excitement to your life could be just what the doctor ordered.

Don’t go for all-planned, normal holidays-go for adventure Holidays- River rafting, staying in tents, scuba diving, buggy jumping and so on.

Do one thing, which makes you fearful. Jindagi Na Milegi Dubaara.

  1. Meet Someone New Every Day

It’s easy to be closed off and think that your circle of friends is complete, but there are many opportunities each day to strike up a conversation with someone you don’t know.
And you never know what it might lead to.

One of my friends always prefers the middle seat in an aircraft, so he can start a conversation with a stranger on either side.

  1. Take a Second Honeymoon

Even if your first honeymoon was awesome, why not go for a repeat performance
And if it was lackluster or suffered from a shortage of funds, why not go do it properly?
Can you think of something more exciting to spice up your dull & boring life?

  1. Mobile Meditation-Go For a Daily Walk

This can have positive effects on many aspects of your life, and aside from the fresh air and health benefits you might find that it’s therapeutic in itself, and can serve as a sort of mobile meditation.
You don’t even have to walk briskly, or along the same route every day.

  1. Be In the Moment

In his book The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle goes into great detail about how the past and future is all in your head and that the only thing you really have is this moment right NOW.
Being more present might take some practice but many find it’s worth it.
Do only one thing at a time. Multi-tasking is the enemy of “Being in the moment”

  1. Stop Overthinking

Yes, yes, you’re very smart and everyone knows it, but sometimes you’ve got to get out of your head and get things going in the real world.
Take the Ready, Fire, Aim approach to that new idea you’ve got and get the ball rolling.
Thinking’s for losers!

  1. Stop Getting So Mad So Easily

If you’ve got a short fuse you’re not helping anyone, especially yourself.
This can lead to high blood pressure, undue stress, and fewer friends and lots of enemies.

When you get angry –take a deep breath, count to ten and take a walk. Never, never pick up a phone to put people in their place or write an e-mail. If you have to -wait for twenty four hours.

  1. Start a Hobby

You don’t even have to know exactly which hobby you want to start, just start something. If you find out that you don’t really like it, you can always switch.
If you find that you do like it you can delve into it as far as you want to go.

Having a hobby is an awesome stress-buster.

  1. Go a Week Without Mobile Phone

Gasp! The horror! Can you imagine it? No phone for a week? How would you survive?
The answer is that you would, and just like things continued on after your dog bit your mother-in-law, your life will go on just fine.
And when you start using it again you might find that you use it less.

  1. Start Believing In Myself

It can be hard sometimes to play the highlights of your life, when all you can remember is the times you screwed things up.
Start with smaller goals and put a few wins under your belt and you can start rekindling the faith in yourself that you once had.

5 Easy Ways to Feel More Confident

  1. Start Taking Dietary Supplements

Due to our food habits, 9 out of ten people in India have nutritional deficiency.
We take excess of water, fat and carbohydrates in our diet and less of Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals and fiber. This leads to poor fitness and premature ageing.

It is all right to take dietary health supplements to overcome nutritional deficiency.

  1. Stop Texting While Driving

This is one of the most dangerous, and downright stupid things to emerge in modern civilization. There’s no excuse for being in a moving vehicle with your eyes facing downward. Treat your vehicle like the potentially lethal weapon that it is.

16.Stop Being So Negative

The world is often a reflection of the way you’re feeling, and if you’re one to always point out the half-empty cups in life you probably aren’t having as good of a time as you could.

It’s amazing how things start to get better once you start thinking more positively, but often we wait for conditions to improve before changing our mindset. It doesn’t work that way! Go on, give it a try and within a short time you’ll see the proof.

17. Create Special Times with Those  Closest to Me

If you’re started to feel that your life doesn’t have the traditions and special moment that you remember having as a child, it’s up to you to start working them in.
Some moments happen spontaneously, while other require a bit of planning.
Try to celebrate all the possible occasions-birthdays; anniversaries, good order from a client.
Can you make this as a celebration year!

18. Start Dreaming Bigger

It’s a lot of fun to dream about how you want your future to be, but always strive to grow your vision. As your life unfolds it’s important to challenge yourself to reach bigger and bigger goals.

Old cliche’ but still works-If you aim for the stars, you may not reach it, but you will not be in the mud either

19. Do five things everyday, which will take you closure to your goal

This should be your screen saver.
This could be a big meeting or just connecting with someone on phone.
Every time you get something done, you have a sense of achievement.
You start feeling good about yourself and you will sleep better.

20. Talk to your Mom/Dad More

Your parents miss you. Give them a call, they probably don’t get into this whole Facebook thing as much as you do, so you have to go the old fashioned way.

Go and meet them. Surprise them with a gift.
Their blessings will bring so much cheer to your life.

21. Spend Less Time Online

When everything in your life seems to have an online presence, it’s sometimes hard to pry yourself from the computer.
But it’s important to have real world interactions with the people that are most important to us.
Start by logging your online time for a week and then decide what a reasonable cutback would be.

22. Live Longer, Watch Less TV

Get out that chair! A study showed folks who watched 4 or more hours of TV a day were 80 percent more likely to die of heart disease.

TV watching could kill you.
I am not joking. A 2010 study published online by the American Heart Association, in which researchers followed 8,800 adults, revealed that people who watched TV for four hours or more each day were 80 percent more likely to die from heart disease and 46 percent more likely to die from other causes, compared to those who watched less than two hours.

And each additional hour spent in front of the TV increased a person’s overall risk of death by 11 percent [source: Klein].
This was mainly due to all that sitting. Too much muscle inactivity disrupts your metabolism.

23. Read More

With so much entertainment and infotainment streaming at us these days, books seem to be getting less attention than they once did. But many people still put this one down as a resolution. So whether you’re reading non-fiction to learn something, or getting lost in a piece of fiction, choose something that interests you and tackle it head on.

24. Trust your instincts

Trusting your instincts takes you back to your natural inclinations.

One easy way to give more weight to your instincts: When you have a gut feeling about something, write it down or record it in your smartphone. Also note your mood at the time (“Do I not want this new job because I am afraid I can’t do it?”). Then test your feelings out on family or friends to get their reaction.

You will soon realize that your gut instincts will always give you correct directions in life.

25. You got a limited supply of will power, so use it wisely

The New York Times examines why it’s more difficult to exert willpower today than it was for our grandparents, then suggests how you can use what we know about willpower to your benefit.

For starters, Kathleen Vohs, an associate professor of marketing at the University of Minnesota, notes that “there is research that shows people still have the same self-control as in decades past.

But we are bombarded more and more with temptations,” and that “our psychological system is not set up to deal with all the potential immediate gratification.”

The result is that we’re constantly exercising willpower and self-control. Makes sense, but the problem is that willpower is like a muscle capable of fatigue: you can’t keep any muscle flexed forever.

To test this, researchers placed participants in situations in which they had to practice self-control—not laughing at a funny movie or not eating chocolate-chip cookies in front of them.
The second control group could laugh or eat as many cookies as they wanted.

The results? The group that had to resist temptation did not perform as well on the second task as the group that was allowed to give in to temptation, said Timothy A. Pychyl, an associate professor of psychology at Carleton University in Ottawa.

The conclusion was that those who had to exert more willpower in the first task “exhausted their self-regulatory strength, at least temporarily, and therefore are unable to muster the self-regulation needed for the second task.”

26. Use Your Talents/time for a Good Cause

If you aren’t comfortable with that much structure or time commitment, Huffington Post blogger Kari Henley suggests another answer: ad hoc, spur-of-the-moment activism.

Deliver a dinner to a friend or neighbor in need.
Offer to baby-sit a new mom’s kids for an afternoon.
Send an unexpected card of encouragement to someone.
Help your maidservant’s children with new clothes or paying their tuition fee.

Helping one person at a time is a good entry-level way to become a humanitarian, and you still get that warm and fuzzy payoff.

27. Start!

Even if your resolution is to stop doing something, start stopping today.
It’s easy to get caught up in the thinking part, but eventually you have to start doing what you said you’d do.

There’s no time like the present, because it’s always right now, so start towards your wish list now.

The best thing about creating a wish list is that you can pick up as many as you want to-without feeing guilty about failing to do something.

The theme for the New Year should be to make it Large and Blissful.

Best of Luck, & Happy New Year..!!!
