Known for light projections on its elaborate facade, the Copacabana Palace Hotel was illuminated in a display dedicated to team GB on Tuesday (August 16).
As London hosted the last Olympic Games, the city is the focus for the first illuminations with butterflies flitting over the façade of the building with wings in the colours of the Union Jack flag to wish Team GB good luck, and congratulate them on their successes so far.
The series of illuminations feature a theatrical light projection that shows butterflies gliding over the seven-story high hotel façade.
Each butterfly carries a different country’s flag on their wings, designed to represent the “bringing together of nations from around the globe in celebration of cultural diversity.”
