Alyssa Milano embraces ‘breastfeeding advocate’ role on 'Wendy Williams Show’

Breastfeeding in public continues to be a controversial topic, but actress Alyssa Milano isn’t letting that stop her from speaking her mind.

The 43-year-old, best known for her roles on TV shows like “Charmed” and “Who’s the Boss?,” was chatting with Wendy Williams on her eponymous talk show yesterday when Williams shifted the conversation toward the subject of breastfeeding in public.

“I don’t need to see that,” said Williams, after explaining to the audience that Milano “recently caused controversy because she was breastfeeding.”

Milano Asked Williams what exactly it was that upset her about breastfeeding, which has become a hot-button issue in the media lately. The actress has contributed to the controversy by sharing a few breastfeeding photos of her own on Instagram.

“Why is it OK to show that picture of Miley Cyrus with two suspenders over her breasts, and it’s not OK…?” Milano Asked Williams, trailing off as she attempted to express her shock at Williams’ stance.

The actress countered Williams’ opinion that bare breasts are alienating because of their inherently sexual nature. “Biologically, they’re not made for sexual things,” said Milano. “That’s what we’ve done to them.”

Overall, she said she’s enjoying her new role as “breastfeeding advocate.”

“I take that job with a lot of responsibility,” said Milano. “But it’s … it was kind of shocking that we were that sort of opinionated about something that’s supposed to be so incredibly natural.”

Williams’ reaction? “I can’t. I can’t.”
