Living In Cyprus: We Have Superman To Protect Us

(source Cyprus Mail)

There’s no flashing red cape, flexing of superhuman muscles or flying through the air without the aid of an aeroplane, but the Cypriot version of Superman is no less impressive at fighting crime. So much so, the improbably named Rita Superman has received two awards recently for her crime fighting skills.

Rita Superman is head of anti-trafficking in Cyprus and has done such an impressive job of fighting this deplorable crime against humanity that US Secretary of State John Kerry, no less, awarded her for her actions.

Superman explained that in the years she has headed the unit since 2005 trafficking has changed and become a multi-dimensional thing with work exploitation, people made to beg in the streets, illegal adoptions, trafficking for marriages and for committing other criminal activities all meaning there is a need for a multifaceted response to the crime.

She may not be able to leap tall buildings, but Rita Superman knows how to fight crime.
