The Treasury Department recently put sanctions on 10 institutions that fund Hamas from various countries, but admit that it is a difficult and complicated task given the wide scope and intricacy of the network. Hamas receives funding from charitable organizations and also taxes the people of Gaza on goods. Iran is another major funding source for Hamas.
