I'VE PLEDGED. HAVE YOU?

With all the negativity and hatred in the nation coming to a head, it is important to not only speak kind, truthful words in order to be a voice for the voiceless, it is necessary for us to take action and stand up for what's right. I know, personally, that the idea of taking part in something that seems so much bigger than myself is very daunting. The need for advocates and activists is so demanding and crucial to the well being of our planet and country, it's extremely intimidating and kinda makes you wonder "Where do I start?" and "How can I even do this?". But I believe in the power of starting locally and focusing on what you can do in this immediate moment of right now, and then expanding. That's why I created the "I Pledge" Movement that is now part of the dontcallmebabe community. This movement is about uniting everyone of all ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations. No matter what, we cannot be fully liberated unless we ALL are liberated. No longer will "As long as it doesn't affect me" kind of attitude be accepted. Staying silent is not okay, it is not okay when people and children are afraid to leave their houses because of hate crimes. It is everyone's duty to do their own part in America becoming an accepting and welcoming place for ALL PEOPLE. That includes women of color, trans women, lesbian women, gay men, trans men, men of color, immigrants, EVERYONE. If you believe in what I am saying and want to be apart of this rad movement, here's what you can do: take a photo like the one below holding a poster with the words "I Pledge" and then write whatever you Pledge to do to make your community/nation a better place:) It is all anonymous so it you don't have to include your face. Then you can send it to: [email protected], share it to dontcallmebabeblog's Facebook page, or you could even post it and tag @dontcallmebabeblog on Insta/Twitter. I will be posting the photos on dontcallmebabe, like I said it's all anonymous so no names will be included. :)
photo submitted by anonymous. it reads "I pledge to stand up against injustices so future generations will learn to love and accept all. #dontcallmebabe".
