Which One Is The Best? – Organic Deodorant Review*

As the warmer weather slowly, but steadily approaches, we have to be ready to fight sweat and odour with the best deodorant possible. Finding the right Natural alternative is tough, but not impossible and here I’m showing you my new buddies for this summer.

As you might have read it already I made the switch to natural deodorants a long time ago, actually if I remember well we started with using natural toothpaste and then both my husband and I switched to natural – aluminium free – deodorants. That’s how our green journey started.

I’ve been a huge fan of Dr. Organic’s roll-ons, but I gave them a little break to try these wonderful deos, that are all operating with herbal extracts such as lavender and sage. Both lavender and sage are great natural antibacterial agents, so they successfully help fight against bacteria on the surface of the skin. I tested 3 different deodorant’s ( stift, roll-on, and spray) with very similar ingredients, and I collected my experiences here.

To summarize: The Schmidt’s Lavender+Sage Aluminium Free Natural Deodorant worked the best for me, but it had some disadvantages; such as the staining factor and the fact that it has sodium bicarbonate in it, that is causing me irritation on the long run. That’s why Biola’s Sage Spray Deodorant came out as a winner, because it’s also worked for the whole day, and I actually liked that it had no scent at all, so I could use my natural perfume with it. I was also pretty happy with the Primavera Lavender & Bamboo Roll On, that has a very nice scent, and worked just perfect during the days I spent at home, but once I was out running errands in the 25 degrees (9 months pregnant) it struggled to keep me “odour” free, and I had to reapply it during the day to make sure everything was fine.

I have to clarify: the above-mentioned products are DEODORANTS, that means that they are NOT ANTIPERSPIRANTS so they are NOT STOPPING the sweating process. Sweating is a natural thing that helps your body cool down and detoxify itself, and stopping this process is really bad. Deodorants are here to help you to avoid bad body odour, – which happens when sweat meets with the bacteria on the surface of your skin- with eliminating the bad microorganisms and to absorb the wetness as much as possible.

Traditional deodorants and antiperspirants are mostly operating with aluminium to stop sweating and Bad Body Odour, but aluminium can be very damaging to our system. It can cause serious skin irritation to people with sensitive skin and can be a reason of several other health issues.

It’s also important to mention that – in case you are new to the world of natural deo’s – at the beginning, aluminium free deodorants may seem useless, and you can feel stinkier than usual. That is because your body needs an adjustment period, first it is is detoxifying itself, the sweat glands are getting used to function without the “help” of aluminimum particles. It takes a little time, but after that everything is going to be fine, and I can guarantee that, natural deo’s are just as wonderful and effective as drugstore ones can be. Not to mention that natural alternatives are million times healthier…

What kind of a deodorant are you using at the moment? Did you make the switch from conventional deodorants to aluminium free alternatives already?

DISCLAIMER: I’ve got an amazing opportunity from Organic Harmony to pick 3 products from their huge natural deodorant selection, to try and review them. The products were provided for me free of cost, the post is not paid, and my opinion is as honest as it can be.
