IPL TREATMENT WITH LUMEA

Hair removal has always been an unenjoyable topic for me. Traditional depilation has never been my thing, while laser and IPL treatments always have seemed to me as quite unhealthy. Well, it turned out this was only a prejudice. Or as far as home IPL epilators are concerned.

On one sunny Friday, filled with a great dose of scepticism, I got my hands on the pink box, containing  Philips Lumea Prestige – the newest IPL epilator for use at home. I had no idea what to expect. Just a few hours ago the team behind Philips was convincing me how useful, harmless and innovative this device is. In my hands I was holding the best on the market. A device with a SmartSkin sensor, which determines the most appropriate impulse level for you.

A device, which works both on a battery and when plugged in.

This feature is non-existent in other Lumea devices. Hence, it has 4 different filters for the different body zones – body, face, bikini line and underarms. After educating myself that an IPL treatment with Lumea is harmless, of course, as long as you follow the mechanism of use, I initiated the first test. Being still a bit cautious, I turned on the device and used it at a lower setting (3rd), even though the SmartSkin sensor recommended the highest 5th. It turned out

…the lighter the skin, the higher the setting one can use without concerns.

At first, I got surprised as I felt the impulse was kind of warming. But it’s nothing too much. It’s really easy to get used to it. Hence, the intense red light of the impulses also surprised me, and I do avoid looking at it, even though it’s completely harmless for the eyesight.

The first 6 treatments are to be done in a two-week interval, while the following should take place once per 30 to 45 days. This will be enough to maintain the results. Just a few days ago I had the 3rd treatment done. Philips promised 92% hairloss at treated zones after the 3rd treatment. In my case this percent is 60-70%, because I did not use the maximum recommended setting at first. Another reason for this is that my hairs are slightly blond. Interestingly, the darker the hair, the better the result. As an example, my underarms show better results as hair is darker there.

TIP: Download the Lumea app, which will remind you when a treatment is scheduled. It’s very useful for a person like me who tends to forget things like that.

My final verdict? If I had to sum up my one-month-and-a-half experience with IPL epilation and Philips Lumea Prestige, I would say

results are real and visible.

And the feeling of having less hair on those problem zones makes me feel great in my own skin. I’m so curious what it would be to be completely hair-free. Truly believe I’d find out in another month and a half.

Have you ever tried an IPL treatment? Are you interested in such type of epilation at home? If you have any questions and/or concerns about Lumea, I would be very happy to discuss them together.

Love,

Denina ♥
