ELF Clarifying Pressed Powder-Review

Hello!

I have two pressed powders in my collection, and out of the two I own, this is the one I reach for less often. Read on to find out why.

What ELF says about this product:

Treat and prevent skin imperfections. Proven skin clarifiers absorb oil on contact.

Directions
Brush powder puff (included) across powder and press gently into face and neck.

My view:
This pressed powder comes in a plastic pan with a clear plastic lid that clicks into place. As you can see, there is a powder puff included with this product and I store mine in the case resting on top of the powder. I've seen a lot of people complaining that when they do this, the lid doesn't click into place, but I don't seem to have this problem. The lid comfortably clicks into place with mine, even with the puff inside. It's quite small and compact and you can easily slip this into your bag for touch ups.

Moving on to the powder. I usually prefer to use a brush for powders, but this one is very hard to pick up using a powder brush, so I use the puff provided to pat it onto my skin, but even picking this product up with the puff is really hard! The powder does a good job at controlling oil for about 5-6 hours. It did even out my skin tone, but didn't really provide any substantial coverage for me, which is fine, because I have foundation and concealer for that. If you apply this with a light hand you won't get a cakey look. The powder is available in 7 shades and I have it in rosy beige which is the right shade for me, so it doesn't leave me looking either orange or white. The main reason why I prefer my other pressed powder (Max Factor Crème Puff) is because it is easier to pick up with a powder brush, and hence easier to apply. It also lasts a little longer than the ELF pressed powder. This powder does do what I expect it to do though-it controls oil and prevents my skin from becoming shiny. It also prevents my make-up from sliding off my skin and helps it last a little longer than it would without a powder patted on top.
It took me three swipes to get that colour to show up.
Would I repurchase this? Probably not because like I said, my Max Factor pressed powder does a slightly better job, and while it is pricier than this particular pressed powder, I'm willing to pay that higher price for the slightly better quality. However, I do recommend this pressed powder to people who are on a budget or people who are just starting to use make-up. I bought it here for just £1.50, but it's also available in Pakistan here, for Rs 170, so it's really affordable, and actually quite cheap for such a decent product. Since this is only available online, finding the right shade is difficult, but searching online for swatches may help a little.
