Let the battle commence
I have completely used up all of the product from both of these so I think it's fair to say that I have given them both a fair trial.
I will be comparing texture, Fragrance, price and results.
I love the packaging of this product, perfect for travel.
The texture is a very soft waxy Balm, you don't need too much to effectively cleanse your face. It has a very light lemony fragrance and I found that it did not irritate my skin or my eye area. I always use balms on dry skin, massage and then add a little water just before wiping off with a warm flannel. It removed most of my make up on the first cleanse but I had to go over the eye area again to remove all traces of my mascara and eyeliner.
RRP £13 for 90ml which works out at 14 pence per ml.
Next up is Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
The texture is a much firmer balm, you need a very Small Amount to thoroughly cleanse your face. This balm has no fragrance at all, that was a bit strange initially as most Cleansing Balms have a fragrance from essential oils, once I'd used this a couple of times I forgot about the lack of fragrance. It did not irritate skin or eyes. Again I used this on dry skin, massaged, added water and then removed with flannel. It removed all traces of make up in the first cleanse.
RRP £22 for 125ml which works out at 17 pence per ml
In conclusion I would have to say that my battle winner is Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. Although it is £9 more expensive than The Body Shop Cleansing Butter I found it lasted more than twice as long as I needed to use such a small amount, it just felt like it was melting my make up off on contact.
The only thing I dislike about cleansing balms is getting it out of the pot, I hate dipping my finger into products so I always use a fresh wax spatula to remove product.
