Back to Basics: How To Properly Cuff Womens Jeans

Hey hey friends! Happy Monday. Josh and I had such a fun weekend in Santa Fe and It was so needed. Getting back to healthier eating and my budgets this week. I’ll be recapping the trip later this week on the blog.

It’s #backtobasics day and I got this post idea from a sweet follower about 6 months ago. I always had it written down but never got around to posting it. I figured what better way to really get back to basics than with a post on how to cuff you jeans properly? If you missed last weeks Back to basics post you must go see!

The pic above is with NOT cuffing the jeans. Looks un-put together and not flattering.

I feel like this is a super easy, “figure it out” kind of topic but a lot of people really struggle with how to cuff their jeans. To be honest, sometimes I even struggle with it still when I’m wearing certain jeans and boots.

I get to post some snowy pics from Santa Fe here but here’s a little tutorial on how I cuff my jeans.

1. Completely straighten jeans and make sure they are same length at bottom

2. Use a measure. For me, I go off of the line/indent in my thumb. It’s about an inch and I use that as a measurer when folding my jeans

3. Fold once on each side, check again to make sure they are equal. Fold again and again depending on where your shoes fall.

If you’re wearing flats, one fold may just be enough. If you’re wearing boots and want them to fall right above the boots (what I prefer), usually 2 or 3 folds. Sometimes with boots, it’s tricky with whether or not you want to tuck your jeans in or fold them.

Any type of ankle boot, I prefer to cuff my jeans above. If your jeans are a little longer, I would make the folds a lot bigger so you only fold them once or twice. You don’t want tiny folds and then folding it 4 times and it looks really thick. My jeans may look off here, but I promise they aren’t! I just lean in my pics haha.

Just go off of your jeans and shoes and just make sure you are folding each side equally and that they fall right above your shoes. I shared two different folds with two different jeans. One pair is a little longer on me and one is more cropped.

Hope y’all found this post helpful! Be sure to come back Wednesday for another #weddingwednesday post!  xx
