Country life in the Goldfields doesn’t always sound particularly appealing. Take for example, the long drives with never ending views of grass the colour of gnat-eaten camels. So what a surprise when our recent road trip to Bridgewater yielded the biggest clothing bonanza we have had so far! With prices ranging from free to two dollars, how could we resist a good file-through of the racks at the Helping Hands Mission Inc Opp Shop?
Some of the loot included, in no particular order:
- · A white leather bag
- · A red tote with snake-skin handles
- · A two-toned Jacqui E pullover
- · A knitted mini-dress
- · A hot pink embroidered short-sleeve cardigan
- · A ruffled navy blue blouse
And even some vintage nylex plates and a Macquarie Dictionary!
The cream of the crop was an amaze-balls pair of black leather Windsor Smith wedges, which somehow mix comfort and fun and give me a height advantage of at least three inches and cost, wait for it - four dollars! I am completely hanging out to wear these to the Chill Out Festival in Daylesford in two weeks, I mean, how better to get a great view at the Pride March? Watch this space for commentaries.
Here’s to country op-shops – you’d be crazy not to venture in and explore!
With love, Straighty xox
