Don’t Quit Your Day-Dream: White Distressed Jeans

Sometimes, when you get caught in the daily grind it can be easy to let months or even years slip by without being truly aware of what your long term goals and aspirations are. Getting up every day, putting on your work clothes and getting on the treadmill of life can sometimes make you forget about all the beauty there is in the world, all the wonder hidden around us just waiting to be discovered, and all the moments full of zest waiting to be savored.

I want you to know, though, that there is a place inside you that no one can reach and take away from you. A place that no disappointment or heartbreak can sour. A place where colors are vivid and bright and everything imaginable breathes in a perpetual state of possibility. That place is your day-Dream.

I’ve dreamed of having a fashion blog for years and I was never brave enough to start it earlier because of the classic “I don’t feel ready yet“, “I don’t have enough time“, “I don’t have any photographer friends” and all the other typical excuses that the mind will try to give a person in order to keep it “safe” in the comfort zone.

What I soon started to realize is that the time is never going to be right and there are always going to be other people doing the same thing out there. There are always going to be prettier, smarter, more inspiring, more talented people out there – in EVERY single field. But you can’t let that stop you. While I was waiting (in my head), to live my dreams, my dreams were starting to drift a little further away each day, like a train that just left the station, leaving behind just a smoky trail of regret and yearning.

A few months ago I was reading through an old journal and I found a page with a single quote, staring me in the face, in big bold letters:

Don’t Quit Your Day Dream

And that’s when I knew that it was now (technically back then) or never, if I’m not going to do everything I want and planned to right in this moment, I’m never going to do it.

And this is how Style Unsettled started. With just a burning passion and my old camera.

Since then, I couldn’t be happier. Creating visual stories and tying then with my love for fashion has been a dream of mine ever since I was drawing clothes, shoes and costumes on the kindergarten table. Now I was going back to my first (or between the firsts, I don’t even know at this point…) love and it felt like a coming home, a return to myself.

So never quit your day dream. There might be points of deep transformation in your journey, when you will feel like everything you knew before sheds and falls away. That’s when having something you hold dear straight to your very core will get you through to the other side, and will give you purpose and fuel.

Also, be detached, flexible and strong enough to know that you can always dream a new dream and always create or learn something new. You’re never too old or too young to be whoever you want to be

After all this heavy stuff, time to switch gears to something a bit more light-hearted: the perfect white Distressed Jeans. I gotta say… I’ve been searching for the perfect pair of white jeans for a very long time now (a couple of years)! I wanted something with a high but flattering waist, 100% cotton, super comfy and with the right amount of distress in all the right places (aka. the knees, since that’s been my obsession lately in terms of distress).

These ones are IT! I found them on TOBI‘s website and I was so happy when I opened the box and saw they were EXACTLY what I was looking for. They will quickly become my go-to in the sweet Florida summer (no, I’m not being sarcastic, I really do love the heat) and I can envision hundreds of fun outfits to create with them.

As always, much love
