Gray Matter

This is how I envision my brain working.

Thoughts and neurons flow around to different warehouses in my brain picking up little bits of memory, building the stories that I swear are absolutely true.  Although really, they are just as fabricated and flimsy as everyone elses recollections of events.

It’s all about connections.  Lots and lots of connections.

New Series

This is the first painting of my new Series.  A series currently without a name or a well defined structure.  It’s all just loose ideas floating around in my head.

What I can say about it so far – aka my intentions with this series:

  • theme – explore my thoughts, limiting beliefs and memory
  • color – I will use grays and neutrals and maybe explore other colors.  I’m leaving it open to explore.
  • media – mixed media mounted on canvas.  I am starting with textiles (cut and pieced) combined with mark making with paint.  The work is completed with dense stitch across the entire surface.  Again I’m leaving it open as to where this might lead.  I have some ideas for the future that I might incorporate other media.  We shall see what makes sense as the series progresses.
  • size – mostly larger works.
  • format – square or rectangular
